The Omega Epsilon at-Large Chapter of Sigma was formerly known as the SIA Honor Society of Nursing and Midwifery. It is the 1st Sigma chapter in Ireland that has been born out of collaborative efforts between Higher Education Institutions and Planning and Development Units of Nursing and Midwifery in the Southern regions of Ireland. It was officially recognized as a Sigma chapter in November 2018 joining the other X Sigma chapters across the globe. The goals of the chapter are fourfold: to recognize and celebrate clinical and academic achievements of nurses and midwives; to engage more nurses and midwives in scholarship and translational research; to establish links between nurses and midwives working in practice and in academia; to give Irish nurses and midwives a voice in the global community of nurses.
