This interview highlights outstanding leadership opportunities for nurses in the context of this crisis.

    As nurses and midwives are upfront and centre during this time of international public health emergency Dr Ruth Lernihan discusses her role in supporting patients, families, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team in managing the Covid-19 crisis. Ruth is the Director of Nursing of a busy acute hospital and she is a Sigma Nurse.

    Please do try to join the Year of the Nurse 2020 monthly chapter events. If you cannot join in person, be sure to join online. The events take place on the 10th of every month and the link to join virtually is posted in the Events section of our website.

  • International Sigma Research Grant goes to a Chapter Member!

    Congratulations to Dr Mohamad Saab, Lecturer at UCC School of Nursing and Midwifery and member of Sigma Omega Epsilon at-Large Chapter, who will receive the 2019 Sigma Foundation for Nursing/Joan K. Stout Research Grant to conduct a study entitled "Nursing Students' Views Regarding the Use of Virtual Reality Simulation to Enhance Men's Awareness of Testicular Diseases: A Qualitative Exploration." The study will commence in November 2019 until October 2020. Mohamad will be awarded the grant at the Sigma Biennial Convention in Washington DC in November 2019.
  • Ireland to be represented at the Sigma Convention for the 1st time!

    Omega Epsilon at-Large chapter will be represented for the 1st time at Sigma's Biennial Convention taking place in Washington DC from 16th to 20th November 2019. This will be the first time that Ireland is represented at this international nursing event. Chapter VP Nicola Cornally will carry the Irish flag in the opening procession. It is sure to be a momentous occasion!
