President’s Welcome to Sigma

Associate Professor Liz Kingston

Greetings colleagues,

I am delighted to welcome you to the Omega Epsilon at-Large Chapter website. Through our Chapter, you can connect with a community of likeminded people whose goal is to promote and support excellence in nursing.

The objectives of the Ireland chapter are fourfold:
1.    to recognize and celebrate the clinical and academic achievements of nurses and midwives.
2.    to engage more nurses and midwives in scholarship and translational research.
3.    to establish links between nurses and midwives working in practice and in academia.
4.    to give nurses and midwives in Ireland a voice among the global nursing and midwifery communities.

The Omega Epsilon at-Large Chapter of Sigma is the 1st Sigma chapter in Ireland, founded through collaborative efforts between Higher Education Institutions and Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Units in the Southern region of Ireland. It was officially recognised as a Sigma chapter in November 2018, joining 600 chapters at institutions of higher education and healthcare partners across the globe. It is part of the Sigma Europe region which is one of six International Regions of Sigma globally. Since its formation, Omega Epsilon at-Large Chapter has expanded its collaborative partnerships across the island and is continuously growing its membership and networks across Ireland. Sigma members include clinical nurses, academics, researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and others working to fulfil the organisation’s vision of connected, empowered nurse leaders transforming global healthcare.

If you are interested in joining the Omega Epsilon at-Large Chapter, more information can be found by clicking here. If you are already a member, to get the most out of your experience, keep up to date with our news and engage in our upcoming events. Please register for the global Sigma webpage ‘the Circle’ here. Stay up to date with Europe Region news, accomplishments, and upcoming events via the website here. Also, do make sure your profile information is up to date with a current email address, so that you are contactable to other Sigma members, both in Ireland and across the world.

Hoping to see you at one of our events soon and looking forward to creating new opportunities with you as we strive for global nursing excellence.

Warm regards,

Liz
